This course, taught in English, provides a broad overview of defining social issues in Latin American and Caribbean cultures. This may include topics from the colonial era to the present. Texts under our consideration may be drawn from Spanish America, Francophone and Hispanic Caribbeans, Brazil, and/or US- and Canadian-Latinx cultures. Topics may include: migration and urbanization, indigeneity, race in the Americas, socio-economic class in the Americas, revolution in the Americas, gender and sexuality in the Americas. Course content will be determined by the instructor.
