This course introduces the psychology of human sexuality in its social, physiological, reproductive, and evolutionary context. We’ll explore various psychological theories of human sexuality, and discuss research on sexual motivations, sexual response, sexual pleasure, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual behavior, sexuality across the life span, and safe sex. Throughout we will consider how sex and sexuality are defined and measured, while discussing how our social understandings of sex and sexuality shape sexual behaviors and outcomes (e.g., orgasms, well-being, safe sex). This class will be a combination of lecture and discussion.
