PrerequisitesThis course examines the cultural, political, economic, educational, environmental and health systems that impact healthcare in local, regional and global populations. Concepts of public health, epidemiology and community assessment will support a primary prevention and wellness focus. The value of relationships and collaborative practice for understanding and addressing community-identified needs, increasing inclusivity and diversity, and for strengthening community assets will be explored. Students will advocate for populations using health promotion, educational, and community empowerment strategies.
