From the catalog: This course introduces students to statistical ideas that are important in learning about materials and their properties. Topics to be covered include: regression, clustering, classification, and inference; Bayes Theorem. Exercises and examples will be drawn from chemical, physics, and materials datasets. Students will develop a facility for elementary statistical analysis of data relevant to material scientists; students will become proficient in writing computer code to analyze datasets; students will learn how to draw inferences from an analysis of datasets.
