This course is also a distance learning course with additional office hours. Writing to Learn through English Composition is a process of combining the legacy of powerful academic writing and English composition skills through an experience of seeing how writing always has a sense of purpose for clear communication and thought delivery. Making a transition from high school writing activities and expectations to college or university writing demands can be extremely challenging for many students and it may or may not have true purpose for students. While the K-12 learning approaches to writing attempt to assist students to become proficient writers and critical thinkers, the demands of a college student and expectations for writing must address the rigor necessary for becoming a successful and confident academic writer and thinker. Often times, the transitional activities of becoming a confident writer are lost in translation due to time constraints that prevent the thoughtful process of writing that goes through stages before ever becoming powerfully, compelling writing.
