From the catalog: The first of a two-course sequence in the area of RF and microwave circuit design. Topics covered: transmission line equations, reflection coefficient, impedance matching, Smith chart, scattering parameters. Will also cover impedance matching networks using lumped elements, single-section and multi-section quarter wave transformers, single-stub and double-stub tuners, the design of directional couplers, and design of microwave filters. There is a student design project for a planar transmission line circuit based upon the software package Advanced Design Systems (ADS).
