What we know
- From the catalog
- This program will focus on the archaeology, art, and history of the ancient civilizations that existed within the geographical confines of ltaly–both local cultures. (e.g, Etruscan, Samnite, and Roman) and cultures based in other parts of the Mediterranean (e.g., Greek and Carthaginian). The chief objective will be to impart a robust understanding of and appreciation for the progression of ancient history and artistic production in Italy, and how Classical Archaeology and its related disciplines (History, Art and Architectural History, Literary Studies, etc.) have contributed to our ever-growing understanding of the ancient past.
